It's widely known that testosterone (T-hormone) plays an important role in defining what makes you a man. It is worth noting that men possess 100 times more T-hormone than women do. However, what purpose does it serve?

Testosterone – What It Does

testosterone

Testosterone not only helps in aspects such as muscle growth and body fat regulation. It also actively contributes to boosting energy levels, improving concentration, and strengthening bones.

Testosterone's impact on sexual desire, fitness performance dynamics along with bone density highlights the crucial nature of its contribution towards overall health wellness.

On the other hand, fatigue-related issues paired with the loss of muscles or increased weight gain are all symptoms of low levels of T-hormone.

Nature of Testosterone

One fascinating fact about testosterone is its cyclic nature. It peaks during the night and early morning, explaining the phenomenon often referred to as 'morning wood'.

During sleep, your body recovers, and your testicles produce more T-hormone. Its level is at its highest in the morning, then slowly decreases around midday. However, these levels vary from person to person.

Each man has a unique steady state of T-hormone, which ranges between 300 and 900. Young men in their 20s and 30s usually fluctuate around 700, while others might hover around 500. But know that this isn't a static number; it's a point-in-time measurement.

Testosterone testing is best done in the blood rather than saliva or urine. If a man is under 50, it's optimal to measure T-hormone levels before 11am.

It's important to note that testosterone production decreases by about 1% annually after the age of 35. However, this can be compensated for by maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Importance of Testosterone Level

Let's discuss the variations in testosterone levels, keeping in mind that they can fluctuate. Many aspects of lifestyle may affect these levels, such as diet, workout routine, body mass index, sleep habits, and consumption of alcohol.

Keep in mind that besides decreasing T-hormone production, excessive alcohol intake might also raise the chances of developing higher fat content inside the body.

Surprisingly, having low T-hormone doesn't always mean you'll experience erectile dysfunction (ED). Even though decreased T-hormone can play a part in ED, it may not necessarily be the leading factor. Lifestyle choices are also vital when it comes to both T-hormone and ED.

ADAM (Androgen Deficiency in the Aging Male) Test

Now, let's take a look at the ADAM (Androgen Deficiency in the Aging Male) test. It is a simple and effective method to determine if you're experiencing symptoms of low testosterone.

The test includes ten yes-or-no questions related to your experiences over the past six months. These questions revolve around changes in libido, energy, strength, height, enjoyment of life, mood, erections, sports performance, sleepiness after dinner, and work performance. Depending on your responses, you might be experiencing low T-hormone levels.

Do you often feel fatigued? Are you experiencing a decrease in libido or struggle with maintaining muscle mass? It might be time to take the ADAM test. Don't wait – start your journey to understanding and improving your health today. Your future self will thank you!

How to Boost Testosterone Level

The silver lining is that testosterone can be supplemented. Testosterone replacement therapy can help restore your T-hormone levels through injections or pellets. The injections or pellets slowly release the hormone over several months. I can vouch for the efficacy of these treatments myself, as both my husband and I have experienced the benefits.

And, ladies, don't feel left out. Testosterone is essential for you too! It aids in maintaining libido, energy, focus, and muscle mass, as well as fat loss. Hormone replacement therapy, including testosterone, estrogen, and progesterone, can be a life-changing treatment.

Final Thoughts

In conclusion, understanding your testosterone levels and knowing how to manage them is not only possible but also crucial for your health and wellbeing. So, remember, there is a test to measure, and treatment is readily available. Your path to a healthier, happier life might just be a testosterone test away!
