WHAT IS ERECTILE DYSFUNCTION

Hi!

I'm Dr. Anne Truong, MD

Dr. Anne Truong is a highly respected physician, best-selling author and internationally sought-after speaker on the topics of regenerative cell medicine, pain management, and applications for aesthetics and sexuality.

Erectile Dysfunction (ED) is the inability of a man to maintain an erection for satisfying sexual relations. Symptoms can also include struggling to maintain an erection for long enough to complete intercourse or an inability to ejaculate. If these symptoms are a regular occurrence, the likely culprit is ED.

The normal male sexual function requires interactions among vascular, neurologic, hormonal, and psychological systems. The initial obligatory event required for male sexual activity, the acquisition, and maintenance of penile erection is primarily a vascular phenomenon. It’s triggered by neurologic signals and facilitated only in the presence of an appropriate hormonal milieu and psychological mindset.

There are actually 3 types of erections. Psychogenic erections are more common during man’s early sexually active years, a reflex erection occurs in the mature years and a nocturnal erection occurs only during REM sleep.

  1. A Psychogenic erection is triggered by thoughts. Nerves in the brain are sent first to the spinal cord, and then to the blood vessels in the pelvis and the penis.
  2. Touch initiates reflex erections. The stimulation is the trigger, not the brain.
  3. Nocturnal erections occur only during rapid eye movement (REM) sleep. Men who sleep fitfully and depressed men rarely experience REM sleep and do not have nocturnal or early morning erections.

The absolute prerequisites for penile erectile activity are an adequate blood inflow to provide sufficient oxygen to the corpus cavernosum. Detumescence also is regulated in part by norepinephrine pathways.

What is the Priapus Shot® for Men?

The Priapus Shot®, (also known as the P-shot) is designed to deliver lasting improvements in sexual performance to men, especially those who have lost function from various causes. The reasons can be varied and include but are not limited to an enlarged prostate, Peyronie’s disease, prostate cancer, the after-effects of surgery, drug side effects and other conditions such as diabetes.

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) contains many growth factors and healing factors and has regenerative abilities and thus stimulates healing and rejuvenation. The resulting benefits typically include tissue growth that increases the growth of new blood vessels and improved circulation within the penis, stronger erections, increased sensation and pleasure and enhanced sexual performance. Many of these benefits are experienced immediately after receiving the injection. And, because the treatment uses the patient’s own blood-derived plasma, it is non-allergenic and free of harmful side effects.
