If you're like most people, you probably don't know much about Peyronie’s Disease. This condition is responsible for causing ED in about 1 in every 100 men, and those are only the reported cases.
Peyronie’s is an inflammatory condition that results in the formation of scar tissue (fibrosis) inside the penis. The scar tissue causes the penis to bend or curve during an erection, leading to erectile dysfunction (ED).
While you may think this disease is not affecting you, it’s still something all men should be aware of and check if they experience any of its symptoms.

Symptoms of Peyronie’s Disease
The exact cause of Peyronie’s disease isn’t fully known, but it is thought to be the result of an injury to the penis. The damage triggers scar tissue formation, which can cause the penis to bend or curve.
Peyronie’s disease can cause pain and difficulty with erections. The pain is usually mild initially but can become more severe over time. The curvature of the penis can also make sexual intercourse difficult or impossible.
If you notice a hard nodule in your penis that’s either painful or not painful, you need to get it checked by a doctor immediately. With Peyronie’s, symptoms only get worse over time if left untreated.
How to Treat and Manage Peyronie’s
While this condition might sound pretty serious, the good news is some treatments can help relieve the symptoms. There are medications available, such as Xiaflex Injections. I would also recommend looking into PRP, or Platelet Rich Plasma Injections, as they are very effective and have fewer side effects.
Interestingly, we tend to see men with low levels of Vitamin D and E suffer from the disease. So, as a form of prevention and treatment, taking Vitamin D and E supplements may help.
You may need to look into doing blood work to make sure the cause isn’t related to an autoimmune disease like Lupus or Arthritis. In more severe cases, surgery can also be an option.
Final Thoughts
When it comes to your sexual health and well-being, nothing is off the table. Make sure you understand what is happening in your body that might rob you of your erection, and get it treated!
In the case of Peyronie’s Disease, don’t leave any symptoms untreated. This condition tends to get worse over time, and if you catch it early, you can avoid potential surgery and have an easier time treating it and recovering from ED.
