Pornography is more accessible today than it ever was. There’s no coincidence that as porn gets easier to access, we’re seeing rising cases of ED, even in healthy young men. But why is this?
Eric Zuzack, the host of the podcast Porn Talk, is a porn addiction coach and a recovering addict himself. Eric shines a light on the issues that porn brings into people’s lives and uses powerful therapies to help men reclaim their freedom and, ultimately, sexual performance.
Let’s dive into his expertise and discover what’s happening behind the curtain. How is porn affecting men’s erections, and what can we do about it?

The Growing PIED Epidemic
When I treat a male patient, I have to assess whether or not their ED is physical or psychological. Now, 90% of cases are physical and, therefore, treatable, but a growing number of people are suffering from PIED or porn-induced erectile dysfunction.
Eric insightfully states that men are biologically hardwired to find mates. Porn provides an “easy out,” allowing men to satisfy a constant flow of novel sexual experiences. But here’s the problem, it’s not real, and when it’s over, men often suffer from a “porn hangover.” This is that horrible feeling of tiredness, shame, and depletion of sexual energy after a binge.
Men addicted to pornography run an ever-increasing risk of only being able to orgasm or even gain an erection to porn, ultimately damaging their current relationships.
Identifying the Addiction
If you have to ask the question, “am I addicted to porn?” you likely already have your answer. But take a deeper look. Addiction is classified as a compulsion or behavior that negatively affects aspects of your life.
Do you find yourself waking up tired after binging video after video? Do you have a hard time fully enjoying real-life sexual experiences? There is no judgment here. A lot of people are going through this experience.
For Eric, he realized he had a serious problem when he blew off meeting a friend dying of cancer to act out on porn. The next time he heard of her, she had already passed away. This was a wake-up call that things needed to change.
How to Break the Addiction and Get Your Erection Back
While it’s not a one-size fits all answer, ED and porn addiction are 100% reversible, but it’s rarely something you can do alone. For Eric, breaking his addiction by traditional means was not enough.
Eric talks about how all these 12-step programs failed him and kept him in a powerless state. It wasn’t until he discovered mindfulness that he was able to regain control over his addiction. Once he learned things like EFT (emotion freedom techniques), he was able to tap into the source of his addiction and the emotional traumas that had led him to that path.
Eric now helps others overcome their addiction with a 100% success rate using these techniques within a 12 to 16-week process. Once those men get their “sobriety,” they report a renewed and heightened sense of enjoyment and pleasure from real sexual encounters.
Final Thoughts
Topics like porn addiction can often be pretty heavy and touch on negative emotions. But it’s important to realize that overcoming an addiction is not impossible, no matter how serious or hopeless it may seem.
Take some time and do a bit of self-audit. If you think your ED may be related to porn, it’s time to take action and get your erection back. Be sure to tune into the whole episode to hear more about Eric Zuzack’s story, how porn and ED are related, and how to recover from an addiction.
